Plastics technologists are specialists who know what plastics are made of, how they are processed and where they are used. Plastic products are manufactured on high-tech injection moulding machines, which plastics technologists set up and reset using their specialist know-how and on which they conduct sampling and optimisation runs with new moulds until the products are ready for series production. With their mechanical skills, they are able to manufacture peripheral equipment themselves and use it in connection with handling robots, and to program these robots themselves so as to achieve a perfect and cost-effective process.
